The tournament will showcase a round-robin format, with the top teams advancing to the playoffs. The ultimate winner will be crowned the national champion and will represent Canada at the world women’s championship the following month, and then return to next year’s Scotties Tournament of Hearts as Team Canada.
The Scotties Tournament of Hearts is one of the largest Canadian curling events, garnering significant exposure nationally and internationally. Visit Mississauga threw a bid right on the button to host the championship, beating out other Canadian cities including Lethbridge, Cornwall, and Estevan.
Hosting events like the Scotties Tournament of Hearts elevates Mississauga’s profile on the national stage and unleashes significant tourism opportunities and economic benefits for the community. Tourism is a sector that bridges traditional business sector boundaries. Bringing more visitors to Mississauga benefits the City and the local economy greatly. It means restaurants are busier, retailers sell more, and local attractions see more guests. In 2024, Visit Mississauga was successful in bringing 17 funded sporting events to Mississauga resulting in more than $14 million of economic impact to the City of Mississauga, and a number of large events are scheduled for 2025.
