The Mississauga MetroStars will host their first ever Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) regular season game at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, ON, on Saturday, December 8 at 3:05pm (ET) against the Florida Tropics. The MASL today announced the release of the official 2018/19 schedule for the league’s fifth season. The MetroStars, however, will open their inaugural campaign a week earlier when they travel to Baltimore, MD, to face the defending champion Blast on Saturday, December 1 at 6:00pm (ET) at the SECU Arena.
The MetroStars will play a 24-game schedule, including 12 home dates at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre. The expansion club, owned by Gladiator Sport Media Entertainment Corp., will end the regular season on April 6, 2019 in Harrisburg, PA, with a match against the Heat. The highlight of the season will be a four-game holiday homestand between December 30, 2018 and January 11, 2019. Mississauga will then play four straight on the road, beginning January 20, 2019 in Baltimore and concluding February 10, 2019 in Utica, NY.
“Last year was exciting from the opening day right to the championship game in Monterrey,” said MASL Commissioner Joshua Schaub. “This year’s schedule could be even better. With teams being focused on their conference, each regular season game becomes a must-win.”
This season, teams will play a 24-game schedule (12 home, 12 away) within their conferences to determine playoff positioning. Each team will play their divisional foes a minimum of four times, while the rest of the schedule will be filled with matchups from the other division in their conference.
The MetroStars will play in the MASL’s Eastern Division, with Utica City FC, Harrisburg Heat and the defending champion Baltimore Blast. Season passes and single game ticket sales for home matches at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre will be announced soon.
